Many times, the work seems flat and too abstract. My other gripe is that I feel that, if the author was able to write such an amazing book series with so many tight restrictions on themes in order to make it for a younger audience, it makes me wonder just how much more deep and powerful her writing could get if she didn't have those restrictions. I feel tired yet energized once I have completed my workout. I also applauded that every character was flawed and their redemption was held within their flaws. I can honestly say that reading this book was a little bit of a breath of fresh air because it wasn't a cookie cutter example of all the other YA books out there. In fact, she's the person I wish I had been in high school - she has a strong sense of self and doesn't follow anyone. First of all, the copy of the book that I got from someone on Amazon is a "pre-publication edition. I read both books: "Twelve Lies Husbands Tell Their Wives" and "Twelve Lies Wives Tell Their Husbands". And I think that's something that Kathryn really tackles in this book.
