The story is compelling, although the first few chapters were a little slow. I couldn't put it down. In fact nuclear chain reaction was patented by a Hungarian physicist, fan of H G Wells, four years before splitting a uranium nucleus. I used this book in one my communication classes and I found it very honest, and it was very instrumental in my progress in the class mainly due to how the class was structured so not much credit given to the book on that part. The result is a story that combines the visceral thrills of "Silence of the Lambs" and the dark surrealism of "Naked Lunch" with the tear-it-up action of a "Die Hard". My only complaint is it seems a bit dated, such as from the '70's with the color combinations and photos, of course that does not affect the usefulness of the book. This one has something for the SF lover as well. But the author is to be congratulated for his successful depiction of people the reader does not like. Munro, also known by his pseudonym Saki (1870-1916), was a prolific Scottish author of the Edwardian era. Very little on the first one but better on the more recent one I had seen.
